Egernia cunninghami "Scaleyback"

Coolatai, NSW

This is Eric, a lizard that I have come to know well since I first spotted him in my shed in April 2008. Since then I have discovered
that he usually overwinters under the hot water tank, that he is exceptionally fond of mushroom, banana, grated carrot and baby
spinach. He also enjoys the odd dead mouse. This lizard has good memory and facial recognition. He keeps a low profile if other
people come to visit, but will happily eat out of my hand. He has fathered a few generations and is fiercely protective of his family
territory, as I have observed when other Scaleybacks have made the mistake of wandering into the yard. However, he is more than
happy to have a couple of generations of his family clamber over him. I have also observed Eric changing colour over the seasons,
which is poorly documented amongst skinks.
