I was driving by Ellington Field today and saw this airplane on the ramp. This is the specially modified 747 which was used to transport the Space Shuttle. It has been given to Houston to go on display. Actually, you may think that is pretty cool, but it actually sucks. Our vindictive, socialist, dumbass President made sure Houston did not get a Shuttle Orbiter. Kennedy Space center and the Smithsonian got one, that was appropriate. But, New York and Los Angeles got one. That is what sucks. Why those two cities other than an Obama indulgence to them and a snub to Texas? Can't be any other way. We have lived in Houston for many years right across the street from the Space Center. The astronauts all trained here, the missions were supported from here, most of the mission planning was done here. This used to be space city. Obama has seen to destroying the space program and flipping the bird at the largest concentration of space and rocket expertise in the world. Thanks, dude.

I have to agree with you(and I am from NY). There is no place more deserving of a shuttle than Houston.

I totally agree with you about what has happened to the space program and that Houston did not get a Space Shuttle. New Orleans still has a Saturn 5 first stage rocket engine on display at Michoud that is the place where the fuel tank for the shuttle was made. What did New York or Los Angeles do for the space program? Great image by the way.
