This statue is located in the Archelogical Museum in Epidaurus Greece. Epidaurus was a renown healing sanctuary that became increasingly important in the 6th century BC. The plaster cast of the original statue (exhibited in the Archelogical Museum of Athens) shows Asklepios standing with a sacred snake curling up on his staff. During the excavation of Epidaurus numerous medical instruments were discovered.
