We took the train to Arnhem today to visit the Openluchtmuseum (Open Air Museum). This was a huge version of the Orvelte exhibit we saw yesterday. There were a lot of interesting demonstrations going on there. We saw oil pressing, wheel making, paper making, printing, weaving and a lot of other stuff. There were several windmills, of course. The interesting one for me was the polder mill which is a water pumping mill used to drain the land. At one time there were thousands of these around the countryside, but now electric pumps are used. The windmill behind us in the photo was a saw mill. Although the weather was rainy, we had a good time. A lot of walking. We were on our feet for six hours except for 20 minutes to sit out a rain and have a snack. Tomorrow we are heading to Lelystad and meet up with Pieter and Rix.
