The Plaza Mayor of Astorga is located in the historical and commercial centre in what could be the ancient Roman Forum. It has a rectangular plan and is surrounded by buildings with arcades and balconies. It was designed by Francisco de la Lastra at the end of the 17TH century.As it could not be otherwise, the most notable building of the square is the Town Hall, baroque in 1765, topped by a clock with its famous maragatos. Another of the buildings that is worth visiting in this square is the pharmacy that still retains shelves and bottles of pharmacy from the beginning of the last century.
