This was a spur-of-the-moment mobile phone shot, but it seems to have captured the moment. This rattletrap Himachal Pradesh Government bus was my only option for the all-day journey south over the dreaded Rohtang La (pass). It rumbled safely into Manali that evening; the driver had another 2-3 hours ahead of him. Just another 15-hour day for him. A rest day is a day when he just operates local commuter runs.
