Eastern Box Elder Bug (Boisea trivittata) newly hatched young
These are just hatched box-elder bugs. You can see the shiny bronzed eggs they have vacated just behind the little red nymphs. Box elder bugs are found on the box-elder tree, more commonly know up here as Manitoba maple (Acer negundo).
A great lesson and brilliant close-up to illustrate! The bugs and their eggs look like jewellery. My mother had a pin that almost looked like that! Thanks!V!
stunning image...it's difficult to imagine how any of them fit in those egg casings..they haven't gotten too far either, perhaps still testing the legs...V
