Assassin bug eggs (Zelus)

Dunrobin area. These eggs were found on the underside of an American elm leaf. I really enjoy finding these tiny egg cases (about 1mm in size) because they look like jello pudding! From each of those 'tubes' a young assassin bug will emerge later in summer. Assassin bugs, as their name suggests, are efficient predators of other insects, and in gardens where aphids, sawfly larvae, etc are a problem, these bugs can help. SOme gardeners try to release lots of these assassin bugs in their gardens for natural control.

Very interesting - look like spools in jelly. You have sharp eyes.
