The House of Blackheads was originally built in 1334 for the city's guilds. Over time it was solely occupied by the Blackheads, a guild of unmarried foreign merchants whose name derives from their patron, St. Maurice (often depicted as a Moor). St. Maurice appears in the lower right (on one side of the gate). I took a closeup of him but processing it will have to wait until I get home.
