The story of this unusual bird is extensively documented in the Gallery linked below. It was first seen in 2009 and then again in 2011 and then in 2012 4 times in 12 days between 5/16 and 5/28.
This photo shows all the features that make this a unique bird - the white hood, red back, black legs, and splotchy under tail area. When compared with photos from its earlier vists there is no apparent change. It also shows that it is well fed for a flight north to its breeding grounds (if this mis-marked individual actually breeds)!
