I wish I could have gone up to the top, but it was roped off. I did get asked if I had my "photo passport" as I was eying the rope, so there was no way to get any further without attracting a lot of attention. At the bottom of the staircase is a model of the library showing both the restored palace and modern addition. The palace was much larger than I realized as not all of it is open to the public.
