I can't at the moment find the history of this gate, but it runs underneath the basilica. A man who was walking his dog stopped to tell me that in 1956 this gate was a scene for a confrontation between the Russians and the Hungarians. He didn't speak English and I don't speak much Hungarian, but he wrote the date in the sand and I got it.
