I worked on replacing the nut plates in the left landing gear box today. It was very frustrating trying to position the nutplate through this little hole. I tried all sorts of things without success. Finally my brain turned on and I came up with this simple solution. I fed a piece of fuel hose through the hole and it was just the right size to screw into the nut plate. I just pulled it into position (gently) and was able to position the nutplate so that I could get a cleco into it. This worked out very nicely. I wonder why I spent three hours screwing around with it before I came up with this fix. I always figure if you think about something long enough a good idea will come along.
