Red squirrel seeking maple sap

At about this time of year, we often see red squirrels doing a bit of maple syrup tapping! This one is on a Manitoba maple tree, and he was chewing off the bark at various points and lapping the sap that ran out. Very ingenious, as the sap is nutritious and provides energy in the depths of winter.
