...defends the rose harming only those who would steal the blossom. Chinese Proverb
To Paul, thank you so much for your description on creating High Focus Range (HFR) images. I have spent the last day or so immersing myself in the topic.
This image is a three image stack. For those wanting to do HFR images in Photoshop, here's the recipe:
Increasing Focal Range Using Photoshop
- With camera mounted to a tripod, shoot several images at the same aperture, making sure that in the collection of images, a different spot is in focus. Camera should process in RAW format.
- Open all images in Adobe Raw converter. Select all of the images and process them at the same time using the same settings. Save the images as PSD files.
- Open all PSD images in Adobe Bridge. Once opened select them all. From the Bridge Tools menu choose Photoshop -> Load Files Into Photoshop Layers
- Once in Photoshop, open the Layers Palette and multi-slect all the layers
- Choose Edit Menu -> Auto-Align Layers. (select Auto in the Dialog Box
- Again from the Edit Menu -> Auto-Blend Layers. (select Stack Images in the Dialog Box)
- Choose Layers Flatten to merge all layers into one.
BTW, this image probably didn't benefit significantly from the HFR treatment, though there was definitely improved focus around some of the edges. This was more an exercise in workflow and process. |
