Crush

West Virginia

Mamiya RB67 with Polaback. Fufjifilm FP100B.

I haven't used this old potato masher in years. It makes the best mashed potatoes and at this point could be considered an antique. Technology wins by virtue of convenience and speed for most of my old kitchen appliances.

Submitted for the challenge list entry, "One of the things you own but never use."

Other worlds can be seen here.

Mamiya Sekor 50mm f4.5

Great shadows and pov. You have made the humble masher very interesting :-)
I use a hand masher but it has square holes in the plate.
Janice Dunn16-Nov-2011 07:42
I remember this shape!! I do mash my potatoes a lot, and often grill cheese on the top of them. But I use a totally different looking masher now.

You can´t beat that old tool..makes mashed potatoes like silk..provided the perfect potatoes! I like the golden Idaho, if I remember correctly! Anyway my favorite dish, with roasted salmon and ginger butter sauce! Oh..I forgot the carmelized perl onions! Yummi! Great entry and shot! V.

Young people have no idea what that thing is. They have no idea how to make mashed potatoes without electricity. ;) Super shot with the shapes, light, and shadows.
Best regards,
Dick:)

Well, by sheer coincidence, I just used one this afternoon while making supper! I wouldn't be without it. I love your shot. You've made this utilitarian object a work of art. VV

I still like to manually mash. Great light.
John King15-Nov-2011 21:58
This masher is a simple technology but totally effective. I really like your iconic presentation of it. And I love mashed potatoes. The shadow almost looks like a hand. V

Used to have one --- tossed it out many years ago. Love your photo -- the shadow rocks!!!!
