Picture taken of Half Dome from the John Muir trail between Vernal and Nevada Falls. The sheer vertical cliff on the left side is 2000 feet and it's on this cliff face where the Northwest route is located. Whereas the Snake Dike route starts about 1100 feet from the summit and goes the slope on the front.
