On September 17th, Tom, Jon, John, and I climbed the Snake Dike route up the Southwest face of Half Dome. The approach to the climb is 6 miles of hiking, scrambling, bolder hopping and bush whacking for an elevation gain of 3700 feet.
The climb is 8 pitches from 5.5 to 5.7 up a natural dike for about 800 vertical feet of climbing.
Then a long walk up a steep slab to the top on Half dome.
Lastly from the summit, a trip down the Half Dome cables and a 9 mile hike out that drops in elevation 4800 feet.
