On our first morning game drive, we saw a rare black rhinoceros meters from our lodge. Black rhino are indigenous to Kenya whereas the White rhino was introduced from South Africa. Both rhinos are neither black or white. I remember Joseph explaining to me why the white rhino is called that. The white rhino actually has a wide mouth (feeding mostly of grass). The South African call it Wide Rhino but due to pronunciation it became "white".
The Black rhino has a narrower mouth and picks leaves instead.
The rhinoceros is the last of the Big 5 seen.
