If For No Other.....

Ha. March 13th turned into April 13th which turned into May 13th, which turned into August 30th. Resolutions are meant to be broken, right? My life. Man. I wouldn’t trade it for anything, but I wish I could get rid of two or three things in it that seem to take all my time. Problem is that I am not sure what I could afford to get rid of.

Whenever I decide to head out with my camera I always, always love it. I love taking pictures of nothing. No stress. No kids that I have to make smile, or not. No parents looking over my shoulder. No families of 14 that I have to make everyone open their eyes at once. Just me. And a flower. And the sun. That’s it.

The one thing that I love about my camera is that when I am thinking about exposures, and composition, and sun flare, and everything else that comes with it I am able to completely block the day to day stuff out of my mind. As soon as I move on, it comes flooding back into my mind, but for that brief time it is all gone. No stress. No worries. Just me and whatever is in front of me.

I will say it again. I need to do this more. I know it. If for no other reason than to make my dad stop telling me how sick he is of looking at the fire hydrant. If for no other reason. But, I have plenty of other reasons. Reasons that are good for me. Reasons that make perfect sense to me. Reasons that make me forget why being an adult isn’t as much fun as I thought it would be.

Yeah....if for no other reason than the 100 reasons I have.

I love what you write Jim. In New Zealand we call this Carrot Weed. I think it's actually hemlock. No doubt inhabitants of the brave new world will call it somfin else. These are such lovely flowers, that are weeds. Yes the simple things are where it's at but it takes courage to shed the BS that surrounds so much of our lives...........and our heritage. here's to more of those kinds of days for you Jim. I am off to have one of these times myself as soon as the battery is charged.........gotta get out of here....and it's just me.uh ohhh.........I will be with me..............dang.

Welcome back Jim. When are we going shooting?

I feel the same when I get to spend a morning in the sun . . me, an eagle & the camera.
Sometimes I have to remind myself that sitting there watching that magnificent bird is NOT what everyone gets to do any day they want. It's very special & I'm lucky.
But I digress . . . nice shot & I agree with your dad, but then, I'm a mom, so I guess I would =)

Gorgeous image Jim, welcome back (again) and I too was sick of the hydrant. I also know that feeling behind the camera when everything else you've been caught up with is gone from your mind. Neat huh? We'll take what we can get from you...

Yep, we need to just shoot for ourselves sometimes. I get all wrapped up in shoots that it takes away from the me and my camera time. I love this image and it is a reminder to take time out to do what I love! :)
