It's rare that humans appear in my pictures but this seemed to me to be quite appropriate. I was leading a group of Chinese photographers and there is limited room on this jagged outcrop. Sunrise on this early summer morning had passed fairly uneventfully and the sky become dark and ominous but thankfully it was pretty broken up at the horizon. My hopes for something spectacular were realised when beams of light pierced the clouds and cast a halo of light rays around the Bowfiddle rock to complete a truly apocalyptic dawn. Needless to say I have versions of this with and without the spectator.
