Mercedes w201 190D 2.5

Friesland, the Netherlands

Since November 2010 I owned this white (Artikweiss) w201 190D 2.5, built in July 1987 and ordered by an elderly lady, Frau Labouret, from Mulheim who kept it until 2008. With just 108tkm now (93tkm when I bought it from the 2nd owner), it's still a baby. The engine, the famous OM602, is built to last forever.

Nice factory options (headlamp wipers, MB alarm, MB 15" alloy wheels, electric sunroof, 4 headrests, coloured glass, arm support, electric antenna, etc.) were ordered and they made the ride even nicer.

The car did 15km's to the liter without problems. ABS (Bosch 2nd generation), another expensive option at the time, added up to the general safety of this 'Babybenz'. Frau Labouret spent enough money on this w201 to get a w124 260E as well, but she probably prefered a diesel and a smaller car. The design of the w201 is very balanced and clean. My 3rd Mercedes. Sold in 2013 because road tax was too high considering the few kilometers I drove. Exported.

Very nice car you've got. I have an '86 190D 2.5 (non-turbo), with 161k miles (257,600km). My wife and I ordered it (with U.S. specs) while we were stationed in Ansbach, Germany 83-86. It cost us DM 55,500 (about $26,000 at the time). Picked it up at the factory in Sindelfingen in July 1986. Then, we left for the States in Oct '86. We have had the car ever since. She will be 27 in July, and still runs perfectly. Gets about 40mpg highway, 35mpg city. Fantastic savings on fuel even today. We wouldn't trade her for anything.
