Part of my interest in attending these banding sessions is to see what the Purple Martins bring back to feed their nestlings. I've seen a variety of dragonflies brought back, cicadas, damselflies, and flies, but this battered Great Spangled Fritillary was the first butterfly I have seen brought back over the years.
