Homage to Van Gogh's Post Impressionist self-portraits.

This homage pays tribute to Vincent Van Gogh, and especially his Post Impressionist self-portraits. I looked closely at the details of my photograph of a weathered wall painting which I photographed a long time ago, and it appeared like the exposure to the weather and time and environmental elements had turned, what was a smooth multicolored face painting, into an impressionistic painted face fragment, that reminded me very much of the kind of bold and colorful application of paint in Van Gogh’s portraits. I love Van Gogh’s extreme use of color and the thick and fragmented strokes of echoed paint. He is to me the greatest master colorist painter of all time.
I have linked a few close up images of his portraits below.

Post-Impressionism
The Post-Impressionist artists extended Impressionism while rejecting its limitations: they continued using vivid colors, thick application of paint, distinctive brush strokes, and real-life subject matter, but they were more inclined to emphasize geometric forms, to distort form for expressive effect, and to use unnatural or arbitrary color.I have linked a few close up images of his portraits below.

“The most famous of the post impressionist artists are Paul Gauguin, Paul Cezanne, Vincent Van Gogh, Henri Rousseau, and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.” http://www.vangoghgallery.com/influences/post-impressionists.html

It was a joy to see my daughter's excitement when she realized she was standing before THE Starry Night recently, the first painting she'd learned about as a child. Vivid color stirs emotions. This image is no exception. Great work.
