My homage tonight is for the Renaissance master stained glass artist Valentin Bousch. You can read a bit about him in the links above. I’m not only honoring Valentin Bousch, but also the art of stained glass. There really is nothing that can compare with the color and light given off by stained glass. The light is pure color that glows that gives the viewer a very different experience from the colors that one finds in a painting. Painters can produce a stunning array of colors using various techniques such as translucent layering or glazing. (Many layers of pigment suspended in a clear medium) The range of color from filtered light is really pure color that gives stained glass its vibrancy and power. I love stained glass. The photo of this spectacular window is from St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. I was there the other day for a memorial service for a long time acquaintance that passed away recently in a tragic fire. After the church empted of people, I brought my camera into the empty church and enjoyed the windows and impressive architecture of St. Stephen's. I do not know who the artist is that created this set fabulous set of windows, but I found an article posted online which is about the gifts of the windows and who they commemorate. The link follows here.
