Orvieto is spectacular ! Orvieto has been highest on my "hilltop town favorites" since I first started going there in 1974.
Dominated by the Cathedral, the town is well known for its excellent Orvieto Classico wine, as well as its
pottery production.

When you first arrive in Orvieto by train, a funiculare is often used to ascend part way up the mountain, and then a city
bus takes you to Cathedral square.
Arrival by tour bus takes you to a series of escalators that drop you off at a different part of the small town,
and when you wind your way through the narrow cobblestone streets, this is your first view
of the magnificent Cathedral that is the focus of most visitors who come to Orvieto
