Early Morning Dog Walk

view map

Had a day off today and as it was dull and misty, I decided to devote the
morning to taking Fudge for a walk rather than a photography
expedition. After dropping our son at school, I took Fudge to The
Navy Bank, which runs along the other side of Dundalk Bay to
where we live. It was busy with people exercising their dogs and walkers
exercising themselves.
It's very popular with townspeople but I couldn't really see its attraction,
apart from the opportunity to let dogs run off the lead. Mostly it
runs through the sort of scrubby urban open space that somehow
evaded being developed during the construction boom of the Celtic
Tiger and past the town's sewerage treatment plant with its
distinctive pong. Although Fudge was tired and happy at the end
of the walk, I won't be going there again as there are much nicer
walks in the countryside.

But the composition and photo is lovely, even if the walk wasn't. V

Nice composition! That was genius to use the red pole for a splash of color. It makes the shot. ~V~

The red pole is such a striking element in this moody scene. It is wonderful that you were able to come back with this awesome image. ~V~

One of the major advantages to having a dog is the necessity dog walks! You certainly made the most of this drab area with that striking color.

As long as Fudge was happy :-)

The bright red looks good on that dull background...we learn by experience :)

You created a beautiful photograph. The red is eye-catching and the composition is superb.

Like many things in the world, poorly designed. I think even on a sunny day this place would be lacking, but you skillfully designed a good shot to give it some life. V

The composition uses the post beautifully, transforming what might have been a fairly featureless scene into something interesting.

David's right - as long as you both got your exercise, it's probably best to write this off to experience!

red cross to the rescue...it does look a tad desolate here...still you and Fudge got some sea air..

People seem to be attracted to water, regardless of a p;lace's other appeals... or not. Though this place may be a bit brighter and more inviting on a sunny day. You've made the best of it photographically, with the red vertical of the post making a striking contrast to the flat greyness of the rest of the scene.
