The old stone lighthouse La Vieille ("The Old Lady"), outside Pointe-du-Raz, Plogoff, Brittany.
It stands 33m tall above sea level, atop a rock called Gorlebella (Breton for "farthest rock"). The tower itself measures 27m.
Built 1882-1887, automated 1995. Light-beam range 18 nm (33 km).
In the far background, 21 km away, you see Cap de la Chèvre, with its big semaphore facility on top, which acts as a watchdog for both sea and air,
coordinating and controlling sea traffic, providing special naval weather reports, alerts, rescue etc.
