Sometimes B&W is the best way to go on these kinds of shots with bad light. I do like this one a lot and the detail comes out far better.

She stands out so much better and becomes the subject

A massive difference, the b&w and crop works well. Nice work.

Beautiful work Michael.
The original lighting and color was not flattering at all.
Your photo now is excellent

Michael, The crop really works and your choice of converting to black and white was perfect. There probably was mixed lighting (in what light you had). It looks like an elegant place to dine and Sherri looks very elegant sitting there. The sharpening looks perfect.

Oh, and your crop was perfect, imo :)

A huge improvement, Michael. You ended up with a very pleasant image.
The b&w conversion really worked well here. I love the reflection of a
portion of the restaurant in the mirror. I find, when I convert from
RAW to a small file, that at times a bit of sharpening is needed to compensate
for the conversion itself. In other words, more sharpness in the RAW original
than in the jpg conversion. Thanks for your info!
