This photo of Vistafjord in New York shows a little bit of the decrepit condition the NY Passenger Ship Terminal was in through the early 1990s.
In 1983 Cunard bought ailing Norwegian America Cruises. Their Vistafjord kept her name and her crew but was given a black and red Cunard funnel.
In 1999 Cunard got nostalgic and renamed her Caronia, repainting her hull black. In 2004 she was sold to Saga and rejoined her former fleetmate
Sagafjord, which was now sailing as Saga Rose. Caronia became Saga Ruby. Vistafjord/Saga Ruby is still in service; Sagafjord/Saga Rose was
too expensive to upgrade to recent SOLAS fire standards, and was scrapped in 2009.
