"Les Adieux" painted by James Tissot in 1872. Cut as a jigsaw puzzle by my Aunt Dorothy. 121 pieces.

Many years ago before I was born my Aunt made jigsaw puzzles. I have quite a number of them and so do many of my family. She made her own glue and pasted many pictures found from magazines to calendars onto 1/8" plywood. She had a very good eye and we would laugh and say that when you had four pieces left you swore they didn't fit the spaces left but of course they did. She made boxes for each puzzle and covered them in wallpaper. Each box has a typed title and piece count on the end. Inside is her stamp showing her name as the cutter and her address. I wish it also had the year she made them. Most puzzles had no second photo to show you what the end result should look like.

How very intriguing, Margot. IF this is an example of your aunt's work, it is lovely. It cannot be easy to cut out all those pieces. I love that she made special boxes for them, complete with her name and address. A wonderful memento, to be treasured.

What beautiful things to have that your Aunt made, Margot. I like this victorian fashion jigsaw. Your aunt was very clever at what she did. This is just so lovely!
