Red in roosting box

This cheeky little guy has quickly laid claim to a brand new bird roosting box at the Fletcher Wildlife Garden. A local scout troop kindly made a number of these large roosting boxes for us, and even installed them for us a couple of days ago. This fellow wasted no time in deciding this was just the place in which to spend the winter! I watched him gather leaves and seed fluff and make multiple trips to the box. Getting a new home ready is always a busy time :-)

What a lucky little squirrel! He has a nice new cozy house there. I think there are few things that bring more joy in the garden that the sight of wildlife using something that was created just for them.

Very neat image Christine. This seems or sounds like a "Habitat for Mammals" dwelling.
