Great Andromeda - close neighbour

Gatineau, Québec

Thinking macro when thinking close !? Think outside the box! This time of the year brings colder nights but clearer skies. Turbulence can be an issue. Targets are multiple but M31 andromeda is the closes '' popular '' galaxy. At night bright in the sky is Jupiter and early in the morning saturn is rising. Two planets easily located.

The shot was done using a Canon 20Da. The only commercial aver made DSLR for astrohptography.

Kenko is motorized but not autoguided. This is unguided.

at one minute, how do you not get star trails?

The Kenko is not autoguided.
No stack this a one minute exposure at 800ASA and at F2
Flares are created using photoshop.

I am not laughing Sandy I am impress. You're sky is darker than mine obviously.

The 20D is sold and gone to the USA. I just received a Canon 20Da from Canon as a refurbished. A collector item and a gem. This is the only astronomical camera made by Canon. I had a unique chance to buy the last of the last classic.

Cheers

Michel, a few questions:
-Kenko mount is an auto-guided mount?
-was this a stack? what exposure time / iso/aperature? how many shots?
-is the 20d still for sale?
-how do you get the little flares on the brighter stars?

I'll post up my pic of Andromeda from last night for a laugh

-Sandy
