Once again, our shutters clicked on the same surfer, virtually at the same moment. The amazing multi-colored sun has just hit the watter, and in your image the surfer lies in wait for a wave as a gull soars over the contrasting cloudbank that makes the sun so startling. It is truly a mood piece, and your underexposed sea makes it all the more mysterious and powerful. In my own version (http://www.pbase.com/pnd1/image/128754452 ), the surfer is more clearly defined and in an upright stance, his arm reaching out for balance as he stares down the setting sun. It is an image, very much as yours is, both rich in closure and mood. I also tried to imply the imbalance between man and his universe. (I missed seeing the gull, which adds so much to your image, because I was concentrating so hard on the man and the sun.)
