It is a temple to commemorate a sea deity "Tam Kung". In Hong Kong and Macau, it is quite common to worship Tam Kung.
There are three Tam Kung Temples in Hong Kong and Macau, the first one is this temple in Coloane of Macau, the second one is in Sau Kei Wan, Hong Kong and the last one is in Ping Chau, Hong Kong.
It was built in 1862.
