Life in a tidal pool

Margaretville, NS

The rocky shore along the Margaretville coast holds many pools of water when the tide goes out, stranding thousands of creatures until the tide returns. This year I found my first living crab in one of these pools, and was quite taken with its pale green colour.

That is one of the big things I miss about living inland, the lack of these neat tidal pools. As a child, we'd spend many days at the seaside near Brighton and Hove, and other further flung places (in the UK), exploring such pools. Lovely shot. V
