My final experiment - at least for the purposes of this challenge.

The field of view for the photographic pano is 360° and comprised from 48 individual shots taken on August 2, 2010 from 4:52:38 through 5:03:03 AM ET; focal length 10mm, fully manual, fixed WB, fixed focus, on Markins Q-Ball M10-L, four rows (no nadir nor zenith shot), landscape orientation, processed in PTGui (Equirectangular) with minor processing in PS CS4. The image to the right was processed Stereographic down (little planet) and here is the link to its high res version.
(A) conclusion from these 360° experiments; without the benefits of a pano head properly tuned for the specific focal length and f-stop for the camera and lens, the effects of parallax are best minimized by keeping foreground elements as distant as practicable, and not to use portrait mode because of the (exasperating) added offset from the axis of rotation. |
