Bottlebrush grass (Elymus hystrix)

This grass is considered Regionally Significant in the Ottawa area, meaning it is known from 10 or fewer locations. This was photographed at the Fletcher Wildlife Garden where it has been planted in the Backyard Garden. I like its rather sculptural qualities!

Very difficult shot but wonderfully done. Light is just fantastic.

I think grass is very hard to photograph in an interesting way and here you've conquered that challenge. This special grass glows nicely out of the dark background. I can see why they call it bottlebrush glass, because it looks like it would indeed make a good bottlebrush, a nice scrubber for the inside of a hummingbird feeder!

A shot to be envious of, a rare grass perfectly captured, very beautiful. V
