This may seem a strange choice of shot with which to start my 'Jersey 2010' gallery, but we had such a great day at this brilliant place ~ and such fun watching the orangutans! ~ that it seemed an appropriate way to start!
According to Wikepedia: "Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust is a conservation organisation with a mission to save species from extinction. Gerald Durrell founded the Jersey Wildlife Preservation Trust as a charitable institution in 1963 with the Dodo as its symbol. The trust was renamed in its founder's honour on 26 March 1999. Its headquarters are at Les Augrès Manor in Jersey where the Jersey Zoological Park was established by Gerald Durrell in 1959 as a sanctuary and breeding centre for endangered species."
