I took my 580 EX flash and shimmed it so it would sit straight up at 90 degrees. Then I took a small sheet of black poster board, cut a small hole in it, bent it slightly to baffle side light and placed it over the 580 and set the tomato on it.

Took a 430 EX and set it off at an angle a few feet back and set up 2, maybe 3 reflectors for fill light. Had to adjust the reflector angles and power adjustments plenty but in the end it all worked out. I did have to do a little cloning to kill off some unwanted light but I like the end result.

One other thing of note is you got to be careful with the power level with the bottom flash. Too much and you can smell the poster board start to burn.

I am going to try this again but next time open a hole in the bottom of the tomato to let more light penetrate. Maybe I’ll try it for the Eligible.

Well done Paul.

Yes! - please do spill the beans about the lighting from beneath, etc.

Think fruit, a tomato.

I cant tell if it's a wine gum (jelly candy) or a cherry, but I like the way you've lit it.
