This is the Minnesota state flower. It's rare and endangered due to its specialized habitat. There were several growing at the campsite, and we were careful not to step on them or damage them. We also shared our campsite with a boreal chickadee, a nesting pair of pileated woodpeckers, winter wren, and many talkative white-throated sparrows.
