The Delphi Museum houses some of the most important artifacts located from the sites around Delphi.
Here Karl, our friend and guide is discussing the bronze Charioteer of Delphi.
The Charioteer was a part of a larger bronze group that incorporated a quadriga, (chariot with four horses abreast), and charioteer.
He holds out his right hand which originally held the reins.
The next image is an illustration showing this original grouping.
The Charioteer dates from 470 BCE and is a kind of transitional piece to the emerging Classical style,
and shows more natural tendencies than the more severe Archaic style.
