Big Basin Panorama-1

Big Basin Redwoods State Park, California

To re-create the sense of how huge this tree really is becomes very difficult with the typical photographic formats.
By selecting a 3-image wide horizontal panorama, I was able to more effectively contrast the 17 foot diameter giant to the surrounding much smaller second growth trees.

Most of the redwoods around Santa Cruz were logged off and used to rebuild San Francisco after the 1906 earthquake and fire burned down the city.
Fortunately, this 329’ high giant survived

Well conceived and shot, Zane! Really tells the tale of how gigantic those trees are.

Nice work Zane - have you got one of those cameras yet that allow you to pan the scene "live" and get it that way ?
