Red admiral (Vanessa atalanta)

Burnt Lands near Almonte. This migratory species is seemingly everywhere around Ottawa and adjoining areas the last few days. They are downtown, in gardens, parks.... looks like we are seeing a mass movement of this species, a natural phenomena that is quite a spectacle.

It must be quite a thrill. I have been in the midst of one Monarch migration and it is surreal and indescribably lovely. Great macro. V
