Yesterday in Bath County.
A cabin located on Kentucky Highway 11 approximately 2 miles south of Sharpsburg.
Bath County is among the earliest settled regions west of the Allegheny Mountains. George Small, born in 1763, Revolutionary War veteran
and my 3rd great grandfather, purchased land here in 1788 from John Fleming (namesake of Fleming County and Flemingsburg) when Kentucky
was a county of Virginia. That same year he married Elizabeth Woodruff. Kentucky became a state in 1792. Their first born was John Small in 1794.
Together they reared eleven children. George died in 1852. He had acquired 1,800 acres of farm land in this region.
