A Nova Scotia icon

In the 22 years that I have lived in Nova Scotia I have studiously avoided photographing the lighthouse at Peggy's Cove. From a photographic standpoint, the problem with icons is that they are often stereotypes as well. Once I put together a gallery of lighthouses though, it seemed that it would never be complete without this lighthouse. So this morning it was up and out of the house at 4:00, to be there before the tour buses arrived and the crowds gathered, in an attempt to make my contribution to the plethora of Peggy's Cove lighthouse pictures.

Wonderful landscape. Love the way the creek meanders back to the bright white of the lighthouse. Well thought out. v. Lee

Well worth getting up for, there only icons in photography when there shot well, and you have certainly made it an Icon here.

Yes Steve! But this light, this moment, this version is yours! I happen to like it!

I like this and just because there have been a "zillion" images of something doesn't mean you shouldn't take your own version. I'm not sure I can do 4AM though!

Nice, a very different POV for the this old lady of the coast. (However, when I read the title, I thought it was shot of Peter McKay). V
