Kharjai Fort

This vast fort near Khoiratta lies in Kharjai village high overlooking the Banah valley. The grandeur of this fort and the views it offers leave the visitor outstanded. However, the government of AJK has allowed this fort to fall into ruin. Most of the walls have fallen down, property looted and wild growth taken over. Currently, there is no programme to protect or restore this fort and creeply-crawlies, including snakes, are the guardians here. The AJK government has wasted a collosal potential to develop this heritage site into a tourist destination to serve the public, foreign tourists and students of history. It is fair to say that a government dept. to protect and restore national heritage sites is non-existent. If it does exist then we, the people of AJK, demand to see what this dept. has achieved apart from letting the nation's momuments go into decline and ruin.

Here government cares their ministary nt history.i think there ruins dont tel us about our past these depict our present. N Iqbal says" ganwa de ham ny jo islaf sy meras pai the

Suraya sy zamem pe asman ny ham ko day mara"
We must remember that we are writing history with our dying breaths. Wt we r giving to next generation as assets nt even ruined walls.

We are lucky there are still some walls and some evidence of a castle left. Knowing this government, they would have stationed the army or the police force here. I have been told Throtchi castle is now occupied by some part of the army. Well done, AJK govt.
