I was walking out of the red pine plantation when I caught site of this cute little sapling growing from a rotting red pine stump. I backtracked a bit to take a closer look. I initially took a photo of the sapling pointing my camera down towards it from a standing position. An okay but plain photo, I thought, when I reviewed it on the camera. When I got down on my knees to get a closer look at the sapling this nicer scene with the line of red pines in the background crossing the frame at an angle came into view.
Shortly after taking this photo a Killdeer flew over, my first of the year, and earlier on I heard a Spring Peeper calling, my second sign of amphibian life this year. Fly-overs of Canada Goose occurred regularly throughout the morning and at one point I am fairly certain I had a fly-over of Common Grackles. Life is "springing" back all around!
