Forest Management

There were stumps like this throughout this red pine plantation. Many of the standing trees had a yellow mark on their trunks. I wonder if the trees in this plantation are being managed by someone. I would be surprised if that were the case given that this is greenbelt land. Clearly, as evidenced by all the stumps like this throughout the plantation, half of the trees were at one point harvested.

I guess that even on NCC land the forest is managed, maybe the NCC leased out the harvesting to someone. It certainly opens up the plantation for the growth of a greater diversity of plants.
