The Pleasure/Profit Principle

Guernsey

On an Island that is only 7x5 miles, the sea is omni-present. This image shows the sea being worked for pleasure, by the sailboat, and for profit by both the fishing boat, and the seagulls surrounding it, scavenging the bait being prepared aboard it. The sun is just setting and with a touch of mist in the air, the sea takes on a light shiny blue while the sky reflects hints of pink. The sailboat is making for port and they'll be eating, drinking and be merry within a couple of hours. The fishermen will be cold, casting nets and checking pots. It'll be dark early morning when they return, and the seagulls will rejoin them, this time to scavenge the catch.

Thanks for such lovely feedback. It's a lot like photography I guess, sometimes we ramble around getting nowhere, and sometimes we find a little clarity and it clicks. Regards, -Najinsky

Wow, you write like a professional... very impressive... and it adds a lot to the photograph. Compliments and regards Nico

A lovely shot full of pastels, that seem entirely appropriate to the image.

More worrisome is the...truly fine writing under the picture...very evocative and enhances as do the pastels.

But for me, the writing is best, means the most, has the greatest impact.

Nicely done.

Best Wishes, Traveller
